Manchester United is set to announce the completion of the deal to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund to the Theatre of Dreams for a fee of £73m.
Sancho has been a longtime target of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and the United boss will be pleased to sign the promising winger.
Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has looked at the signing of Sancho, and he believes that it can affect the growth and progression of Mason Greenwood.
United have three English players who currently play out wide, with Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Greenwood playing similar roles.
Mourinho believes the competition could cause Greenwood to fizzle out ahead of the World Cup in Qatar, with also Anthony Martial and Daniel James fighting for places.
“The situation at Manchester United will be interesting from an England point of view,” Mourinho told The Sun.
“Jose Mourinho has backed Mason Greenwood to win a place in England’s World Cup squad next year
“Jadon Sancho has gone to United, Marcus Rashford is also there and Mason Greenwood is a good example of a player who wasn’t in this squad but can be in Qatar, when he will be much more mature and has a good possibility of being selected.
“Three young England players in one club, three with potential to play in the national team.
“Which one will have an amazing season but which one could be hidden, not starting many matches because of the coach’s decision? Greenwood has the talent to be there.”
