Manchester United are reportedly close to sealing the transfer of Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane but one of our Premier League rivals intend to hijack the deal.

According to Spanish media outlet Onda Cero, Premier League rivals Chelsea have made a late approach of their own for Varane.

Despite having several centre-backs to choose from, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel wants to sign a centre-back this summer and the Blues have previously been linked with two other Frenchmen: Jules Kounde and Maxence Lacroix.

Despite Chelsea’s late move for Varane, the report claims Manchester United will still win the race for the Real Madrid defender.

Varane have reportedly agreed a five year deal with Manchester United and the Red Devils are close to agreeing a €50million transfer fee with Real Madrid for the 28 year old defender.
