Manchester United have confirmed the club have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of Raphael Varane.
All that is now left to be done is for Varane to make the trip to Manchester, undergo a medical and go through all of the usual formalities that go with a transfer being completed.
Juventus forward and former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has previously given his verdict on Varane.
Ronaldo played alongside Varane at Real Madrid for seven years before he left for Juventus.
Speaking about Varane eight years ago, Ronaldo told AS: “Varane is now learning a lot. He has grown as a player and as a man. He is quick, he has good composure and he is very calm.
“He is accumulating experience at his young age. He is humble and, for me, in a few years will be one of the best central defenders in the world.
“I have no doubt about it.”
Since making that admission several years ago, Varane has won a total of 17 major trophies for club and country, including four UEFA Champions League titles.
