Manchester United had a brilliant summer transfer window, and it’s looking like the best transfer window the club has had post Sir Alex Ferguson.
United brought in the likes of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton, with Cristiano Ronaldo making a sensational return as well on the eve of deadline day.
Beyond the incoming signings, United also did well to retain some players that will be key to the club’s fight on all fronts. It’s a long season, and with United competing in the Champions League, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs a quality bench as well.
The decision to retain Edinson Cavani was a good one and also Jesse Lingard, Alex Telles and Diogo Dalot.
Dalot has been the least talked about member of the squad, but he may prove to be a new signing by all means.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a top right-back, but Solskjaer tried to sign Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid to compete with him in that position, which didn’t work out.
The Portugal international had a good loan spell with AC Milan who were keen on signing him up permanently, and Dalot offers something different from Wan-Bissaka.
While Wan-Bissaka is best known for being a top defensive right-back, Dalot is known for his attacking mind, and he can even play as a winger.
Dortmund had made a loan offer for Dalot, and who wouldn’t, after he impressed in 33 appearances for AC Milan.
Manchester United now have a capable squad with more than adequate backups, and it’s up to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to captain the team to greater heights.
