Manchester United star Jesse Lingard came off the bench in the second half against West Ham over the weekend and scored a fantastic goal, that got the three points for Manchester United.
Lingard had scored against his former loan club, and refused to celebrate his goal. The 28-year-old resurrected his career with the Hammers in the second half of last season as he scored 9 goals in 16 games.
Lingard’s beautiful goal covered the massive mistake he made against Young Boys last season, and Hammers boss David Moyes admitted that he congratulated Lingard after the game and also shared a joke with the 28-year-old after his terrible experience in Switzerland.
“I was laughing [with him] but more importantly I said how well he recovered from his mistake in midweek,” West Ham head coach David Moyes told the Evening Standard of his chat with Jesse Lingard after the game.
“He makes a mistake which probably cost Manchester United a first win in the Champions League. But that’s what football does, you always get a second chance to bounce back.
“Jesse got a second chance to bounce back as a player when he was at West Ham last year so we’ll always be grateful for what he did for us.
“I wish he hadn’t scored but we had a chance to get a draw out of it [through Mark Noble’s penalty] and we missed our chance.”
