“They were very boring to watch” – Roy Keane gives his verdict as Manchester United beat Tottenham 3-0
Former Manchester United star, Roy Keane, has hit out at Tottenham Hotspur for putting on an ‘abysmal’ display against Manchester United on Saturday.
With United and Spurs needing a win, it was United that wanted it more, as the hosts had no single shot on target, despite having more of the ball possession.
After the game, Keane was full of disappointment, as he recalled how during his own days, United players used to assume they’d beat Spurs before each game.
“Once they got the first goal it was just a matter of how many they were going to score,” Keane told Sky Sports.
“It was a perfect game for Man United, going back to when I played, we used to say: ‘It’s Spurs. You will beat Spurs.’
“This Spurs team were desperate. The biggest criticism I can give this Spurs team, they were 2-0 down and got a corner after 75 minutes, they kept three players back. 2-0 down, at home.
“Abysmal. But for United, job done.
“Spurs are boring, they’re boring to watch, really boring.
“They’re the home team, it was like the stadium was empty. Where’s that bit of energy? A bit of urgency. There was nothing, I couldn’t believe how bad they were.”
After the win, United are now 5th on the log, just behind West Ham on goal difference, and 3 points behind 3rd-placed Manchester City, while Tottenham are down to 8th.
