Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini has sent a warning message to Manchester United ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash.
Gasperini believes his side’s 2-2 draw against Lazio in Serie A on Saturday was the perfect test for preparations to face us.
Gasperini warned Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that Atalanta are aiming to beat Manchester United in Italy on Tuesday.
“We scored two goals. The problem is that we often have to chase,” Gasperini told DAZN, reflecting on Atalanta’s display.
“When we take the lead, however, the spaces open up more. In the first half we just needed to be a little more precise on the last kick. We have the right concepts, we lack the quality and precision of last year.
“We hope to win on Tuesday against United to secure our place in the group. I agree that today’s match was a test also because Lazio play like Manchester United. They keep both teams, very high rhythms and so we had a great test.”
Manchester United beat Atalanta 3-2 when both sides met at Old Trafford.
