“He’s number one on Man Utd’s list” – Berbatov reveals manager that may replace Solskjaer
Former Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov has revealed Antonio Conte is the number one candidate should Manchester United sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Despite the 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, Solskjaer’s future isn’t certain as another bad run could see him lose his job.
Berbatov believes Conte, who has won titles with Juventus, Inter Milan and Chelsea, understands what it means to manage a big club.
Speaking on Betfair recently, Berbatov said, “Antonio Conte made Inter Milan champions and he made Chelsea champions. Conte has the record and the reputation of working hard, I heard that a lot of times.
“He has been to England and done it, winning the Premier League. He is the name that everybody is talking about at the moment and maybe some people are saying that Manchester United need a disciplinarian approach.
“Maybe the players need that from time to time? Conte has all the results and reputation behind him to know how to handle things at a big club in England. He’s probably number one on Man United’s list.”
