Revealed: Manchester United tried to sign PSG star last summer
According to Daily Mail, Manchester United missed out on signing PSG defensive midfielder Idrissa Gueye last summer.
Manchester United were unable to close a deal for the former Everton man because we could not move on midfielders Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard out of Old Trafford.
With concerns over the form of Matic and the uncertainty around Frenchman Paul Pogba’s future at the club, United’s recruitment negotiator Matt Judge made the move to sign Gueye after West Ham’s Declan Rice was priced out of the market.
The 32-year-old was said to be interested in a move to Old Trafford after growing uncertainty over his future owing to the French Champions’ summer transfer splash.
Despite various meeting being held, the deal couldn’t materialise as the player was forced to remain at the Parc Des Princes.
What is left to be seen is whether the club will resurrect our interest in the player during the winter transfer window.
