Tottenham sack Nuno Espirito Santo after 3-0 defeat to Manchester United
Nuno Espirito Santo has been sacked by Tottenham Hotspur after their 3-0 defeat at home to Manchester United.
Santo and Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer headed into the game at the weekend needing a win to save their jobs and it is Solskjaer who triumphed as Manchester United won 3-0.
Santo was drafted in as the permanent successor to Jose Mourinho in June, with Spurs handing him an initial two-year contract.
Spurs managing director Fabio Paratici, who like Nuno only arrived at the club in the summer, said: “I know how much Nuno and his coaching staff wanted to succeed and I regret that we have had to take this decision.
“Nuno is a true gentleman and will always be welcome here. We should like to thank him and his coaching staff and wish them well for the future.”
Antonio Conte, who has been linked with the Manchester United job for several weeks, is favourite to become the new Tottenham Hotspur boss.
