‘He should have long gone’ – Rio Ferdinand tells Manchester United player
Despite signing up for Manchester United with huge expectations, Netherlands star Donny van de Beek has spent most of his time at the club on the bench.
Despite all of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s promise to the 24-year-old midfielder, Van de Beek has started just once in the Champions league and the Carabao Cup, and he has played just five minutes in the Premier League so far.
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes that Van de Beek should have long left the club claiming that he doesn’t deserve the lack of game time.
“Sometimes it’s just timing when you’re there and it’s the ability to gel with what’s there at the time,” Ferdinand told Vibe with Five.
“If it isn’t all clicking together then you’ve got to get on your bike.
“If I’m Donny van de Beek, I’m off, there ain’t no talking to me, don’t chat to me.
“I love Donny because he’s a humble kid but I’ve got to be honest, if I was looking after him he wouldn’t be there till now, he’d have been gone.”
