“He was unbelievable” – Luke Shaw hails Man Utd star for impressive performance against Atalanta. It’s not Ronaldo
Luke Shaw has hailed United teammate Eric Bailly for his incredible performance in our 2-2 Champions League draw against Atalanta.
Bailly made just his second start of the season as we secured a point against the Serie A side thanks to an injury time equaliser from talismanic forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
A training ground injury suffered by Victor Lindelof on the eve of the game gave Bailly an opportunity to impress and the defender took it with both hands.
Red devils teammate Shaw was impressed with his performance and described it as ‘unbelievable’ and ‘incredible’.
“He was unbelievable,” said Shaw.
“He hasn’t had many chances and of course it’s tough.
“It’s not easy for someone not to play for that long and then to come into a game like this, especially with how they [Atalanta] press and at their home place [too] it’s a very difficult game but he was incredible.
“A big ‘well done’ to him for the way he’s been over the last few months. He’s trained hard, trained well and patiently waited for his chance and I think he took it tonight really well.
“That’s the level now for him that he needs to show day in, day out and of course in the next game.”
