Like Paul Scholes, Rio Ferdinand predicts massive defeat for Manchester United if United do this
After the 3-2 comeback victory over Atalanta a fortnight ago, Manchester United Paul Scholes was seemingly disappointed in the first half display and claimed that United will be thrashed if they repeat same performance against Liverpool.
Scholes was lambasted by United fans but his prediction came true as United lost at first half 4-0 and 5-0 at full time.
United legend Rio Ferdinand has also delivered a similar statement after Manchester United’s 2-2 with the same Atalanta.
Ex- Man United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has warned we will get ‘slapped’ by Manchester City this weekend, if we play like we did against Atalanta on Tuesday.
United battled from behind to earn a 2-2 draw away to the Italian side, thanks to late strikes from Cristiano Ronaldo on either half of 90 minutes.
But Ferdinand is adamant that the performance wasn’t a good one from the team, adding that City may end up hitting five past us, if United don’t get it right on Sunday.
“[Manchester United] can’t have that second-half performance against Man City. If they do they get slapped again,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
“It will be three, four or five because it shows a real lack of respect for the opposition, being really fragmentised, slack and sloppy.
“The intensity wasn’t there. It was disarray, it was just hope. It came down to a moment of brilliance and Ronaldo has saved them again.”
United will be without Raphael Varane for the derby game, after the Frenchman limped off the pitch during the Atalanta clash.
