Jurgen Klopp made futile attempts to sign Edinson Cavani from Manchester United during the summer, a new report is saying.

The Uruguayan proved to be an important buy for Manchester United last season, after providing some inspirational performances for the club following his move during the summer.

And it appears his contributions caught the eyes of Jurgen Klopp, who reportedly wanted to take the striker to Liverpool. The attempted move, didn’t come off, however, as United were too reluctant to do business.

Cavani, who joined United on a free move last year, hasn’t played as much as he would love to this season, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferring to start Cristiano Ronaldo instead.

But fans saw a glimpse of what the future could hold for the two forwards, after they were drafted together in the 3-0 win at Tottenham recently.

Will Solskjaer play two at the front more often, or will Cavani have to keep waiting and hope things get better soon? Well, time will tell.
