Strange report claims executive vice-chairman may not be leaving Manchester United as expected
Many Manchester United fans around the globe have been rejoicing over the fact that executive vice chairman, Ed Woodward’s reign is about to finish, which should herald a new dawn at the club, for the first time in nearly a decade.
However, if a new report by Daily Mail is anything to go by, their joy may just be cut short soon, as he’s set to take on a new role.
It was announced back in April that Woodward would be exiting Old Trafford at the end of the year, but reports claim he will be staying on as a consultant for the club.
Since the announcement was made, no replacement has been lined up for the role, although there are indications the mantle would fall on current Managing Director, Richard Arnold.
Manchester United fans haven’t been happy with Woodward because they largely blame him for some of the problems the club has faced in recent years, especially in the area of transfers.
United are yet to win a trophy under current manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and the EPL has remained elusive since 2013.
We’re keen to see how fans will react to this impending development if it does happen, but we have have a feeling they won’t be happy about it.
