In-form Arsenal star told he’s not better than Marcus Rashford
Football pundit, Craig Burley has insisted that Arsenal youngster, Emile Smith Rowe isn’t near the level of Marcus Rashford and Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount.
The 50 year old made the submission while speaking on ESPN, after he was asked to rate the youngster.
Smith Rowe, 21, is enjoying a fine season with the Gunners, which has seen him score five and assist three, in thirteen matches.
His brilliant performances have earned him a first England senior team call-up, but when asked if he was underrated, Burley insisted the Under 17 gold medalist isn’t even as impressive as he’s been made out to be.
He said, “I think he is a good player, but I’m not sure the ceiling is as high for him as the likes of a Phil Foden and maybe one or two others.
“Maybe Mason Mount. Marcus Rashford, who is just coming back into the side.
“But he is a good player, there’s no doubt about it and he’s made an impact, so we will see.”
Smith Rowe earned his first England call-up, as replacement for a number of other top players who didn’t show up, including Rashford, who pulled out to recover from injury.
