Manchester United legend backed to become Head Coach at Man United
Derby County manager, Wayne Rooney, has received the backing of ex-team-mate, Park Ji Sun, to become the coach of Manchester United in the future.
Rooney left United to join Everton in 2017, before moving to the MLS, where he played for D.C United between 2018 and 2020.
The Englishman then went to Derby County as a player in 2020, where he scored a decent number of goals. Rooney would then become the coach of Derby, but his reign hasn’t been without some struggles.
The 36 year old saw his side dealt a major blow, as they offically entered administration in September due to their financial issues, and were deducted 12 points by the English Football League.
Derby were also deducted a further 9 points for a breach of accounting policies, leaving them bottom of the Championship.
But despite the challenges, Park is optimistic his former colleague will come out better, and someday, become a Man United coach.
He told GOAL, “I believe Wayne can make it. He had great experiences from his very young age and he also had many difficult moments in his career that he overcame eventually.
“For sure, he has great leadership skills as well. So, I believe he can be United’s manager in the future.”
