Former Manchester United star, Gary Neville, has claimed that despite his ongoing contract with Paris Saint-Germain, Mauricio Pochettino would immediately jump on a chance to coach at Old Trafford, following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sack.

Solskjaer was shown the exit on Sunday, after United’s disappointing 4-1 loss to Watford away from home, on Saturday.

Club legend, Michael Carrick has been appointed on an interim basis, but United are keen to appoint someone to take over from him soon.

Speaking on the possibility of Pochettino’s arrival, Neville noted that the appeal of coaching the calibre of players at Man United may be too difficult to refuse for the Argentine.

He told Sky Sports, “I think Mauricio Pochettino, he would never say it, but I think he would come to Manchester United on a five-year deal tomorrow.

“He would look at that group of players, he would look at that club and I think he would be able to achieve more than of what he wants at Manchester United in terms of a project.

“At PSG, you are judged season by season, win the Champions League or you’re out type of model.

“For me, I think Mauricio Pochettino would absolutely come to Manchester United on a five year deal with backing behind him.”

Pochettino is believed to be the clear favourite for the role, with former boss, Sir Alex Ferguson driving the move to convince the former Tottenham boss to return to the Premier League.
