“I am interested in the Manchester United job” – Former Manchester City boss admits
Former Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has admitted he would be interested in becoming the club’s interim manager.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked as Manchester United boss on Sunday morning and the club is searching for an interim manager to take charge until the end of the season.
Former United defender Laurent Blanc is among the names linked with the temporary role with Steve Bruce reportedly ‘very keen’ on returning to Old Trafford.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Hughes said: “There’s a lot of people at United who have my number. I haven’t had a call yet so I wouldn’t be too excited about it at the moment because I don’t think it’s going to happen, but you never know.
“It’s a great position, one that a lot of managers would be very interested in, myself included.”
Hughes scored 163 goals for United across two spells with the club between 1980 and 1986, returning to Manchester in 1988 for seven more years.
