Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has backed Mauricio Pochettino, amid the current rumours surrounding his future.

Poch is the rumoured favourite to take over at Manchester United, in the wake of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure, which came after a 4-1 loss to Watford last weekend.

The Argentine is admired by many for his brilliance at coaching, including those within Old Trafford, especially considering the style of play he brought to the clubs he managed in the past.

However, there are people, who don’t rate Poch very highly because he hasn’t won any major trophies throughout his managerial career.

Guardiola, isn’t one of those people though, as he had beautiful things to say about him during a recent interview.

Speaking ahead of City’s UEFA Champions League clash against PSG, Guardiola said of Pochettino, “You can be a top manager without titles, of course.

“The managers who have the chance to win titles are at top top clubs with good investments and exceptional players. Otherwise – it is impossible to win.

“That doesn’t mean the managers in the Championship or in the Premier League but outside the top six cannot be excellent managers in tactics, and communication, leading the team, as human beings. It’s not necessary to win titles to be a top manager.”

He added: “I’m pretty sure the managers get better every year. Every season we go through you have a lot of learning; I’m pretty sure he’s an excellent manager.”
