Michael Carrick sends message to Solskjaer after Man Utd beat Villarreal 2-0
Manchester United beat Villarreal 2-0 to progress to the next round of the Champions League in Michael Carrick’s first game in charge of the Red Devils.
Carrick dedicated the victory to former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was sacked by the club on Sunday morning following Saturday’s 4-1 defeat to Watford.
Speaking to MUTV, Michael Carrick said: “Terrific night for the players. For the club to go through was amazing. It was a squad [win]. It is a group of good players. I have to say that one is for Ole that.
“I enjoyed it. I have got to thank the staff behind me. Given me little helps here and there. It’s not just about me, it’s about everyone, It’s not my night it’s about getting through for the players. It’s a fresh start.”
