Manchester United legend Mark Hughes, has urged the club to do whatever they can to get Mauricio Pochettino.

The former Stoke City boss made this known recently, as he appeared on talkSPORT.

United are in the hunt for a new manager to take over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, following his sack on Sunday morning.

Pochettino appears to be the clear favourite among several candidates, but Hughes believes the former Tottenham boss is exactly who Man United want.

He told talkSPORT, “I think for a long time Manchester United have coveted Mauricio Pochettino. I think they’ve wined and dined him, I think he’s been out with Sir AlexFerguson.

“I think that was well documented. I think he’s well thought of within the corridors of Man United, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s the one they really want. Whether or not he’s able to come to the club quickly, that’s an issue for them.

“I think if he’s the man, they should just go out and go get him. This interim to interim position doesn’t seem to be the right way to go about it. I just feel it’s Pochettino that they really, really want.”

Pochettino is under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until another few years, so that makes the situation a little complicated, although reports suggest he’s also keen to return to England because of his family.
