Report: Man United ‘in direct contact’ with former Barcelona’s manager

Manchester United have reportedly been on direct contact with former Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde. This is according to football transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano.
United are looking to appoint a new manager, following the sack of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday, after the 4-1 humbling at the hands of Watford.
Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be the club’s number one choice, as he’s loved by many within Old Trafford, including ex-manager, Alex Ferguson.
But with Pochettino still tied to a long-term contract with PSG, there may be a little difficulty with trying to lure him back to England.
United are reportedly interested in Valverde as a back up option should they find it hard to lure Pochettino or any of the managerial targets in mid-season.
Valverde has been without a managerial job since 2020, after he was sacked from his role at Barcelona.
