Former Tottenham star claims £80m Manchester United signing is not good enough and refers to him as ‘s**t’
Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has claimed that Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is not good enough and also referred to him as ‘s**t’.
Prior to Manchester United’s 2-0 Champions League win over Villarreal, former Netherlands international likened the Red Devils defender to an amateur player and feels the club wasted money signing him.
“I talk about Harry Maguire so much, so I try to avoid him,” said van der Vaart on Dutch TV channel Ziggo Sport.
“But he is really s**t. I have said this so often.
“I can’t get away from the fact United have paid €90m for him. That’s how much he cost!
“Where did they look for him? You’ll find players like him at any amateur club in Holland.”
The England international has struggled for consistency this season, and has also been on the receiving end of heavy criticisms for his poor performances this term.
Meanwhile, Maguire played well in our win against Unai Emery’s side in Spain, and hopefully, he can put up a good performance when United play against Premier League leaders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
