Manchester United join the race to sign £60m-rated Serie A striker who has scored 12 goals in 14 appearances this season
According to reports, Manchester United have joined the race for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.
The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the most promising young attacking players in European football, and scored 21 goals and three assists for the Serie A side in the Italian top flight last season.
The Serbia International has maintained a good scoring streak this season, netting 12 goals in 14 appearances in all competitions.
The likes of Newcastle, Juventus and AC Milan, and Arsenal have been linked with a move for the player during the January transfer window.
The player is said to have rejected a contract extension offer from the Fiorentina and will be out of contract in 2023.
Report from the Daily Mail claim Manchester United are among those keen on signing Vlahovic despite the current uncertainty at Old Trafford, with Michael Carrick leading the club on a caretaker basis.
The report claims the Red Devils have been keeping close tabs on the player’s progress this season and could step up their pursuit in due course.
However, it’s understood Fiorentina value Vlahovic at around £60million and are in no rush to agree a cut-price fee for the highly-rated striker.
Vlahovic has refused to be drawn into the speculation surrounding his future and remains focused on securing European football for Fiorentina.
“We are all working hard and want to get back into Europe because Fiorentina haven’t played in Europe for many years and it’d be a great success for the club,” he told the Telegraph.rs following Fiorentina’s thrilling 4-3 victory over AC Milan at the weekend.
“I think this group of players and staff deserves it and we’ll do our best to achieve some of the objectives we have set for ourselves.
“I have reached a level in football where every little detail counts, so I am very careful with my nutrition and training routine.”
