‘Forget it, they are not going to win’ — Former United midfielder Owen Hargreaves makes prediction for Chelsea vs Manchester United
Manchester United have gone on to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after a poor run of form, and the club is expected to appoint a new interim manager in Ralf Rangnick. The German is seen as a top manager, and has gotten praises from Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has hailed the quality of the incoming manager and believes he’d bring an upgrade to United’s playing style.
“Every job he touched he improved significantly,” Owen Hargreaves said on Premier League Productions.
“The first time it was Ulm, a tiny little team and they came out of nowhere. You think about Hoffenheim and you think about the Red Bull projects, Leipzig and Salzburg.
“He is an innovator and he’s a football man and that’s a beautiful thing.
“He’s got great experience, he plays the right way. When my Bayern Munich team played against them in the Bundesliga we didn’t have to do too much in terms of detail because we were better than the opposition most of the time, but you notice.
“They beat one of Jurgen Klopp’s teams 4-1 and after Jurgen Klopp said he wanted his teams to play like that. How big a compliment do you want to make somebody?”
However, after speaking highly of Rangnick, Hargreaves admitted that he doesn’t think Manchester United can beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Hargreaves predicted a 2-1 defeat for Manchester United.
“Forget the Chelsea one! [laughs] They’re not going to win that!” said Hargreaves about today’s game.
Asked for his score prediction, Hargreaves replied: “I think Chelsea win 2-1.”
