Gary Neville reveals who picked the team for Carrick against Chelsea
Gary Neville has suggested that Manchester United’s incoming manager, Ralf Rangnick was the one that decided Ronaldo would be benched for the game against Chelsea earlier on Sunday.
The Portugese forward was a surprise omission from the starting eleven, as Carrick opted to play Marcus Rashford instead.
The decision caused some uproar on the Internet, with many fans criticising Carrick, and perhaps, rightly, seeing as Ronaldo is our leading scorer, with 10 goals this season.
However, Neville has suggested that the decision may not have come from the current caretaker manager, and it may in fact have been Rangnick pulling the strings.
He tweeted amid the uproar about the decision, “A lot of people having a go at Michael Carrick for dropping Ronaldo and picking that MDF.
“I’ve a feeling the incoming manager has picked that team as it’s a huge departure from midweek and what they’ve been doing.”
Rangnick is expected to take over from Carrick this week, with his work permit the only thing stopping his announcement as our new boss.
