Wayne Rooney speaks up on United’s incoming manager with the nickname ‘godfather of gengenpressing’

Wayne Rooney has given his support to incoming Manchester United manager, Ralf Rangnick.
Rangnick is set to be appointed on an interim basis, following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a week ago, and expectations are high, given his reputation.
Nicknamed the ‘godfather of gengenpressing’ football, Rangnick has over the years earned a lot of respect for the way his sides play.
But he comes into a Manchester United side that are 9th in the Premier League, after losing 5 of their last seven matches, and Rooney believes it won’t be an easy job.
“I think he’s obviously very highly respected in the game, and I think he’s got a tough job to come in [to],” the former striker said.
“I don’t mean in terms of his ability, in terms of to come in for six months and stamp his way of playing and his pressing if you like, and how he likes to work.
“But he’s very experienced, I’m sure he’ll adapt to the players he’s got and bring some stability back to the team, but also with the view of looking to trying to win trophies.
“That Manchester United team are more than capable of winning trophies this season and I think they’ve made the right appointment to give themselves the best chance.”
