Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has sent a message to new Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick.

The Red Devils confirmed on Monday morning that the German has been appointed as an interim manager for the rest of the season.

Rangnick, in his opening statement as United boss, pledged to get United playing as a team, something that has, seemingly, been a missing link this season.

And it is that statement that has attracted attention of former United defender Ferdinand, who has welcomed the German to the club.

On Twitter, Ferdinand, initially quoting Rangnick, said: “‘All my efforts for the next six months will be on helping these players fulfil their potential, both individually and, MOST importantly, as a TEAM.’

“Welcome Ralf Rangnick.”
