New Manchester United boss will be pleased with De Gea’s warning message to Manchester United players ahead of Arsenal clash
Manchester United have bounced back from the recent slump to get a good result against Villarreal and Chelsea, and United goalkeeper David De Gea has sent a warning to his Manchester United teammates ahead of the encounter with Arsenal on Thursday.
United face an in-form Arsenal side, in search of a second win in 8 Premier League matches, while Arsenal have won four of their last five.
The North London side also sit in fifth place, five points clear of Man United, who are in eight place.
United will however feel motivated, after holding league leaders Chelsea, to a 1-1 draw on Sunday, although De Dea believes the Arsenal fixture is an equally difficult one.
“I think from today [the draw against Chelsea] we should take a lot of confidence,” De Gea said.
“We know Arsenal are in a good moment, they play well, they are improving, so it’s going to be a big game.
“I think the spirit of the team was great, the fight, the determination, the desire – it was great.
“That should give us more confidence to win big games and to see again the team playing properly, scoring goals and winning points.
“We knew we had to not concede for at least the first 20-25 minutes. We defended quite well; aggressive. The players gave everything and it was good to see the players running all over the place, trying to play and trying to fight for the club.”
Surely, Ralf Rangnick will be pleased with the recent boost in form and morale, and he’d want the senior players to set the pace as United try to salvage what’s left of the season.
