Rio Ferdinand sends warning to Arsenal ahead of Thursday clash
Rio Ferdinand has hailed Arsenal’s resurgence, after their shaky start to the 2021/2022 campaign.
The Gunners found themselves struggling for survival, after losing their first few Premier League games of the season.
But they have since found their form, winning four of their last five matches. And their summer goalkeeper signing, Aaron Ramsdale, has in many ways, been key to it all.
The Englishman has been one of the standout goalies of the season, after his sensational return to the Premier League in the summer.
But the £24 million Mikel Arteta’s side spent on him, has been well worth it, as he’s made some excellent saves, and kept six clean sheets in his last 10 games.
Speaking ahead of Thursday’s game, Ferdinand praised the Gunners for signing the young goalkeeper, as he credited him with their success lately.
He said on the Vibe With Five YouTube channel, “Ramsdale’s been an inspired signing
“There were a lot of people doubting him, he’s had two or three relegations in his career already.
“But the saves he’s making on a regular basis, he’s actually allowing you lot to keep clean sheets. It’s six clean sheets in 10 games, that’s phenomenal.”
Ferdinand however warned that Manchester United have grown to be a better team under Michael Carrick, and they can cause the Gunners problems.
“I think Man United’s confidence is growing after the last two results,” he added.
“It’s just whether Ralf is going to come into the building immediately or not.
“I think there will be a bounce going into the game and it’s not a good time for any opponent to play against Man United with the impetus they can put in.
“Any team that gets a new manager when they come in… we saw with Norwich, we saw it with Aston Villa when Steven Gerrard went there and you’d like to think the same thing happens here and we bash up Arsenal.”
