Former Man City boss emerges as surprise candidate to become permanent Man Utd boss in the summer
According to The Telegraph, former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has emerged as a surprise candidate to take up the Manchester United job in the summer.
However, the Italy national team manager will only be considered for the United role if the Azurris fail to qualify for the Qatar World Cup 2020 after the playoffs in March which could see them face Portugal in the final.
Further details from the report claim Mancini is interested in a return to the Premier League almost 8 years after leaving City.
He could even be tempted to move to Old Trafford even if he is able to secure World Cup qualification for Italy.
The Italian manager enjoyed a successful stint at City, helping them win the 2011/12 Premier League title in dramatic fashion and also guiding them to FA triumph.
Meanwhile, sources claim PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino remains the club’s first choice to become United’s next manager, with Ajax boss Erik ten Hag also in the picture.
