‘He was embarrassing’ — Paul Scholes slams Manchester United star for almost costing his team against Arsenal

Manchester United conceded a very strange goal in the 3-2 victory over Arsenal.
The Gunners took the lead in the 13th minute through Emile Smith-Rowe, as Smith-Rowe tapped into an empty net with De Gea down on the floor.
David de Gea went to ground with an injury, after Fred stepped on him. But instead of stopping play, referee Martin Atkinson allowed proceedings to continue, and Smith-Rowe fired into an unmanned net from the edge of the box.
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes slammed De Gea’s act and told him that he nearly cost his team the victory.
Manchester United came from behind to win the game 3-2, courtesy of goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes, but Scholes was less forgiving in his assessment of De Gea.
“That’s embarrassing,” former Red Devils midfielder Scholes told Premier League productions when asked about De Gea’s reaction.
“You protect your goal, you do anything to stop a goal.
“To turn away, to not even look, there’s clearly nothing wrong with him. He’s done himself.
I don’t think there’s much wrong with it. De Gea should be there, protecting his goal at all times. It doesn’t look that bad to me. The goal had to stand.”
