‘I find that a hard, mortal sin,’ — Erik ten Hag slams Solskjaer’s treatment of Manchester United star
Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has slammed Manchester United’s treatment of Donny van de Beek as the player’s future appears uncertain at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag is one of the several top managers linked with the United job alongside PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino and Leicester City’s Brendan Rodgers.
Howver, the Dutch tactician is clearly not impressed by the Red Devils’ treatment of his former player Van de Beek, who has had an entirely underwhelming time at Old Trafford since moving from Ajax last year.
He described the club’s treatment of the Van de Beek as a ‘mortal sin’ as the player has not been given enough opportunities as expected.
“Take Donny. I find that hard, a mortal sin,” the 51-year-old told De Volkskrant.
“If you haven’t had a chance yet, then development will also stall.”
The manager who said he is still in contact with a number of his former players, added: “Every now and then you encourage them.
“Everyone understands that as a top athlete you want to push your limits.
“If you don’t have that mentality, then you don’t belong here.
“But when are you going to do that and at which club? What is your motivation? I try to get that thought process going.”
