Why Rangnick can’t continue to play Marcus Rashford — United legend says
Former Manchester United star, Paul Parker has said that Ralf Rangnick cannot continue to include Marcus Rashford in his starting eleven, if he intends to stick to his 4-2-2-2 system.
Rangnick took charge of his first game as Man United’s boss, in a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford last weekend.
The German deployed a 4-2-2-2 formation, which saw Rashford play in attack alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, with Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes just behind them.
Fred scored the only goal of the game, with a screamer, and in our last UEFA Champions League game on Wednesday, Rangnick rung several changes, which saw 11 new players starting, including Mason Greenwood.
Greenwood was on target, as United were held by Young Boys, and Parker feels the 20 year old should be picked ahead of Rashford.
He told Eurosport, “If he wants to play his system, he can’t continue to pick Marcus Rashford, either.
“I think he has got to look at Mason Greenwood more – he is someone who can play wide and centrally.
“Greenwood needs a run of games otherwise he will start getting disillusioned.
“He’ll be asking himself: ‘Why can’t I get in the team after Marcus Rashford’s recent performances?'”
