Rio Ferdinand reveals the “scary attribute” he likes about United forward Mason Greenwood
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes Manchester United youngster Mason Greenwood’s ability to play without fear in big games and even thrive under pressure makes him a scary opponent to play against.
The former Red Devils defender likes the player’s calm and cool approach to playing games despite his young age.
Ferdinand said: “He comes into big games with superstars around him and he doesn’t look like he has any fear in his bones; he has ice in his veins when the ball comes in around the box.
“He is so calm and cool he expects to score. When I’ve watched him as a kid the goals aren’t too dissimilar to the goals he’s scoring now.
“He feels comfortable here and when he comes out here it doesn’t feel like a big thing for him and that’s a scary attribute to have because most kids get the jitters.
“He’s a shy kid, he’s humble I haven’t spent loads of time with him but you look at him you think there’s an iciness there beneath what you see that says he’s meant to be a top top player.”
Greenwood is the club’s second-highest goal-scorer this season with 5 goals across all competitions so far, and will be looking to seal a spot in Ralf Rangnick’s starting XI when we face Norwich City this weekend.
