‘If he won’t sign, he should never play for Manchester United again’ — Warning sent to Manchester United star
Former Scotland striker Frank McAvennie has claimed Paul Pogba should not be featured in games for Manchester United if he refuses to commit his long-term future to the club.
The former West Ham United and Celtic player believes the Frenchman has largely underperformed during his time at Old Trafford and has failed to be a leader for the club both on and off the pitch.
Speaking to Football Insider, West Ham, Celtic and Scotland striker Frank McAvennie said: “Paul Pogba is a talent but he’s not performing.
“He sums up everything that has happened at Manchester United in the last couple of seasons. People have blamed the managers instead of the players.
“Really, there are no leaders in that dressing room. Based on how much money they are paid, Pogba should be a true leader on and off the pitch there.
“He’s not even close to that. If he won’t commit to the club then fine, don’t play him. If he won’t sign, he should never play for them again.”
Pogba is yet to make a decision on his long-term future despite the fact that his Manchester United contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
The Frenchman could sign a pre-contract agreement with interested clubs in January.
