Paul Ince reveals who should be Man United captain
Paul Ince has said he thinks Scott McTominay should be Manchester United’s captain ahead of Harry Maguire.
Maguire was named United captain in January 2020, following his £80 million move from Leicester City.
The Englishman was however absent with injury for United’s 1-0 loss to Wolves on Monday, and in his stead, Cristiano Ronaldo was handed the captain’s armband.
Ince however, believes McTominay should be captain at Man United because tye 25 year old has shown he deserves it.
He told Sky Sports, “Sometimes when your performances aren’t that great like his haven’t been great, that armband can weight heavy on you.
“I think if you were to give it to someone else, if I was Ralf Rangick I would be giving it to McTominay.
“Because I think the captain should be based on his performances and what he has done on the pitch.
“He’s 25, it is a nice learning curve for him.
“Everyone’s moaning about Ronaldo walking off the pitch every time United get beat or not clapping the fans, it is also about setting an example and I think the way McTominay is playing, let him have a go.”
McTominay has captained Man United in the past — during our FA Cup third round match against Watford a year ago.
