Manchester United threw away a two goal advantage and left Villa Park with just one point after drawing 2-2 against Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa side.
Manchester United took the lead in the 7th minute of the keenly contested affair, after Bruno Fernandes fired a free kick at Martinez from a few yards out. The Villa goalkeeper initially caught the effort, only to let it slip into the net right from in-between his legs.
The second half resumed with the hosts pressing for an equaliser, but it was the Red Devils and Fernandes that got a second, thanks to another howler from Villa.
The game seemed all done and dusted for United, but in usual fashion, Villa were given a way back in the 77th minute, as Jacob Ramsey pulled one back for Steven Gerrard’s men, and it wasn’t too long after their first, that new signing, Philippe Countinho added a second, as the Red Devils were forced to return to Old Trafford with one point.
