Club legend tells expensive Manchester United defender that he has no future at the club
Manchester United legend, Paul Parker, has said that Aaron Wan-Bissaka has no future at Old Trafford, following his struggles this season.
The Ivorian joined United from Crystal Palace in 2019 for £50 million, and immediately established himself as a regular starter at right-back. But inefficient delivery doing forward has always been a recurring decimal in his game, with many criticising him for it.
In recent weeks, Ralf Rangnick has opted to play Diogo Dalot in the position, and Parker believes he’s a better player than his teammate.
He told Talking Devils, “I was always a big fan of Wan-Bissaka.
“I watched him play so many times for Crystal Palace and nothing got passed him.
“But at the end of the day, he is a good player but Manchester United isn’t his club because they are asking a different question of him in that position. If he was to go back to Crystal Palace there would be rave reviews. Because he suits what Palace are.
“There have been some great players come to Man United and they haven’t managed to keep their head above the water because they just can’t fit into the club. Players who have come in and you’ve gone: ‘Wow’. But after 6 weeks, 6 months you go: ‘This isn’t going to happen, this club is not suited to him, he’s not suited to the club, the club might be too big for them and there’s too much asked of them’. And I think that is Wan-Bissaka.
“Being a full-back at a top club is different from being full-back at a club in a different situation, aspirations are different.
“I look at Dalot, he’s better than Wan-Bissaka in the attacking third but he’s not agile, he’s not the most mobile, he’s very one paced. Defensively people get around him far too easily. But he’s steadier and you will get that little bit more from him.”
