Manchester United expect player to have a key role as club fights to win Champions League and FA Cup
According to reliable transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are convinced Jesse Lingard will have a key role to play in the United team after blocking the player’s exit in the January transfer window.
With the Red Devils looking to secure a top-four finish and to still compete for the FA Cup and the Champions League, the Englishman is expected to play a huge role in helping the club achieve this season.
Lingard is still expected to leave the club in June 2022 when his contract at Old Trafford expires, ending his 22-year-old association with the club.
Meanwhile, Lingard is ‘extremely disappointed’ after the club blocked him from leaving Old Trafford despite an attractive offer from Newcastle United.
The 29-year-old was desperate to leave the club with playing time hard to come by. The player was said to have held talks with Ralf Rangnick on Monday morning over a possible exit which the German approved, but was later overruled by the United board.
