Highly-rated midfielder hopeful of playing for Manchester United next season
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United youngster James Garner is hopeful of staying at the club next season after enjoying an impressive loan spell at Nottingham Forest.
The young midfielder remains optimistic about his chances of earning a role in United’s first-team squad under a new manager next season.
The possibility of recalling Garner from loan in January was considered by club chiefs before it was decided it’d be best for him to remain at Forest and get regular football.
The 20-year-old would prefer to be part of United’s first-team squad next season rather than go out on loan again.
The Red Devils are likely to have major changes in midfield next season, with Paul Pogba likely to leave, Nemanja Matic considered to get out of his depth and questions around Donny van de Beek’s future.
Despite the fact the club will sign midfield reinforcements, Garner could be integrated in the team after impressing this season.
James has started 22 games for Forest this season and was superb in their 4-1 win over Leicester City in the FA Cup 4th round tie on Sunday.
