“Manchester United can win the Champions League this season” – Manchester United legend claims

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has claimed Manchester United can win the Champions League this season.

Schmeichel’s verdict on Manchester United’s chances of winning the Champions League left Thierry Henry, Jamie Caragher and Micah Richards laughing hard.

All four pundits were on duty for American network CBS Sports on Tuesday night as the Champions League returned and Manchester United beat Brighton 2-0.

Manchester United travel away to Atletico Madrid next week for the first leg of their last-16 tie.

Schmeichel was asked by Richards: “Peter, do you honestly believe that Manchester United can win the Champions League? Be honest with me now, no messing around.”

After a long pause, Schmeichel replied emphatically: “Yes. What kind of a question is that?”

Following a big laugh from the studio, which also included Henry, Carragher responded: “What kind of an answer is that?!”

Manchester United have continued to struggle for consistency this season despite sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and appointing Ralf Rangnick.
