The Ronaldo saga continues. Juventus coach takes swipe at Cristiano Ronaldo
Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri, has taken a veiled dig at Cristiano Ronaldo by claiming his side are more together as a team after ‘putting personal targets aside’.
Ronaldo left The Old Lady in the summer of 2021, after a successful time with them, which saw him score 101 goals in 134 appearances.
During his time in Italy, the Portuguese also won two Serie A titles and the Coppa Italia.
Since the 37 year old departed Juve, they have struggled to reach previous heights, as they currently sit fourth in the Serie A. However, despite their inadequacies, Allegri insists they’re more of a team than ever.
Speaking at a Press conference on Friday, Allegri said: “I think that personal targets have been put aside and there is more focus on the team.
“We have been together for six or seven months now. We are knowing each other a little more, we feel more like a team.”
Allegri’s comments come months after Juve centre back Leonardo Bonucci, seemed to criticise Ronaldo for ‘thinking he could solve all the problem on his own’.
Asked if Juventus are playing more as a team without Ronaldo, Bonucci said in October: “It’s absolutely true.
“In the recent past we had lost this characteristic from Juve, we were playing with a great champion like CR7 and we wanted to put him in a position to always do well, thinking he could solve all the matches.
“This year we are rediscovering that right humility that it serves to regain victory.”
