Ralf Rangnick explains why he benched Harry Maguire against Watford
Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick has explained his decision to drop captain Harry Maguire for Saturday’s goalless draw against Watford.
According to Rangnick, Maguire was dropped for the game against Watford due to fatigue from the midweek game against Atletico Madrid and ‘tactical demands’.
On his decision to drop Maguire, Rangnick explained: “We came back in the middle of the night after the Champions League game.
“It is about fresh legs, energy and the tactical demands against this Watford team.”
Maguire has struggled for form and consistency this season, leading to calls for him to be dropped from the starting XI.
