Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that his star defender Ruben Dias will be absent after picking up an injury.
Dias picked up a hamstring injury in City’s FA Cup fifth-round win over Peterborough in midweek and was taken off at half-time.
Dias has been a key player in City’s defence this season, forming part of a defence that has conceded just 17 goals in the Premier League this term.
Pep Guardiola has insisted that he won’t cry over the defender’s injury and is expecting a top performance from his players nevertheless.
“Muscular. Hamstring. Four to six weeks,” Guardiola told reporters of the centre-back’s injury on Friday.
“It happens. In other seasons our best players have been out for eight or nine months like Kevin. I’d love him but he’s not there, I will not cry.
“We have just two central defenders but it happens. It is what it is. We have decent players available. People say we were lucky with Covid.
“We have 14-15 players. With these players we are going to fight and try to play good. Impossible to fight if you don’t play good.
“We try to play good and win our game with our people. We play with our people and hopefully our people support as they always do.”
