Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire has called Manchester United fans ‘the best fans in the world’ following Manchester United’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Despite the Manchester derby defeat to hated city rivals, Manchester United fans still found some joy to cheer the players after the game. For  Maguire, this was an unbelievable move from the fans.

Maguire said: “They were singing, they clapped us off the pitch at the end. Our fans are amazing, I always say it, they’re the best fans in the world. We’re disappointed that we couldn’t give them something to cheer about today.

“This season hasn’t been good enough on our behalf in the Premier League at all. Obviously we’ve given them nice moments, but not enough of them and we need to make sure that in the remaining games of the season – I know that they’ll be right behind us because that’s what they do, that’s why they’re the best fans in the world – we’ve got to make sure we put a smile back on their faces because I know it’s going to be hard for them this week.

“We’ve got to make sure that when we come to Tottenham next week we put a smile back on their faces with a victory.”
