Paris Saint-Germain signed up Mauricio Pochettino to replace Thomas Tuchel as their manager, so that he can win them the Champions League.

PSG have been unable to lift the Champions League trophy, despite the massive investments at the club.

PSG fell short in the semi-final last season, and this season they crashed out in the round of 16, after losing to Real Madrid 3-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night.

Pochettino is thought to be the favourite to become the permanent boss at Old Trafford this summer although Ajax manager Erik ten Hag is another top candidate for the job.

Many have wondered if United will be able to pull Pochettino from PSG, but Michael Owen believes the Argentine will leave after losing to Madrid.

“I don’t think he will mind,” Owen told BT Sport when asked how Pochettino will react to Wednesday’s elimination.

“I think he has his eyes set on a Premier League team anyway.

“But he was out of work [when he was approached by PSG], it’s an unbelievable job to try and achieve something like that, he is going to win the league probably.

“But he will go the same as the Thomas Tuchels. When a big job comes up in England I’m sure he has his fingerprints all over it.”
