Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick has claimed Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay will miss Tuesday’s Champions League game against Atletico Madrid if he plays against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Saturday.
United welcome Antonio Conte’s side to Old Trafford for a fixture that could play a pivotal role in the race for a top four finish.
Manchester United look set to be without McTominay as he recovers from a calf injury.
Rangnick said: “But, right now, it is more likely that he will not be available because if we risk him tomorrow, he will more likely be out for the game on Tuesday.
“That’s why I tend, with muscular issues – even more so if it’s the calf muscle – I tend to be careful.”
