Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick to help Manchester United beat Tottenham 3-2 at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Ronaldo had to score thrice to rescue his side after individual mistakes brought the away side back into the game twice.

After Ronaldo’s bolter for the first goal, Alex Telles handled the ball in the box for a penalty which was converted by Harry Kane.

Ronaldo would then finish off a Jadon Sancho cross to make it 2-1, but Harry Maguire scored an own goal in the 72nd minute.

Ronaldo didn’t deter as he scored a late goal to seal the victory.

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has a reputation for being critical, but the club legend opted against criticising the error made by Maguire.

“You can’t be too critical of Maguire,” Keane said on Sky Sports.

“I’ve been critical of him, but he’s doing his best.

“It’s an honest mistake and these things happen in football.”
